Past Perfect

The Past Perfect is used to talk about past situations. It is formed by the past form of the auxiliary verb have and the past participle of the main verb.
Example:
I had finished my homework.
We usually combine it with the past simple. The past perfect refers always to the previous action.
Example:
When Peter called me I had finished my homework.
This means that first I did my homework and then Peter called.
